TESTING

Portable Appliance Testing is the testing and inspection of electrical appliances / equipment

P.A.T Testing should be generally carried out every 12 months, although some equipment such as I.T may have longer periods between test and inspection. A series of tests are made to each appliance to check the appliance's integrity. Included in these tests are a visual inspection.The procedure also includes an assessment of how the appliance is being used in its enviromental conditions. The tests include examination of the appliance, flex, plug and its componants. The tests carried out, depending on the appliance, are-

Earth Continuity, Insulation Resistance, Protective conductor/touch Current measurement, Functional checks, Polarity Test

 On completion of these tests we can evaluate the appliance's integrity and prove that they are safe to use. A hard wearing log book is given (supplied on disk, hard copy or emailed) to the customer on completion of the testing and is laid out in a easy to understand format. Robust appliance identity labels are applied to each appliance which gives them a unique i.d number making them easily tracked. An added benefit to this is that all the customers electrical appliances are listed and their locations logged, allowing the customer to keep track of the appliances and where they are located at any given time. A Barcode Asset System can also be used (please ask for this service if required)
